Allen Leroy Britt, Jr., born on September 16, 1962 to Laura B. Roper and Allen Britt, Sr in Reading, PA.
Allen graduated from Reading Senior High School and upon graduation he joined the United States Army in September 1981. He also attended Campbell University while on active duty. Allen retired from the United States Army as a First Sergeant, after 25 dedicated years of service. He received the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal (5th Award), Army Achievement Medal (7th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award) and a host of additional medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons. Allen's prestigious military career took him to various duty stations: Germany; Kuwait; Iraq; Afghanistan; Ft Stewart, GA; Ft Irwin, CA; Ft Bragg, NC are a few of them.
After retirement, Allen worked for MPRI where he returned to Afghanistan. There he was responsible for training American and Afghanistan military troops in combat maneuvers.
Over the years, Allen's spirit felt an emptiness and in October 2014, Allen surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. No longer lost, now found in Christ. Family was extremely important to Allen and that was evident in how he would always spend his vacations and time off with family.
Allen Leroy Britt Jr., 52, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at his home in Hope Mills, North Carolina. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 27 years, Deidre Ann; son, Ja-Rell; daughter, Jaira Howell (Dalton); grandson, Jamal Leonard; godson, Demetrius Stocks; mother, Laura Roper; father, Allen Britt Sr; four brothers Eric, Carl, Phillip, and David; two sisters, Michele and Valary; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
