Hope Mills, NC

Amanda Habig, 34 of Hope Mills, NC, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024. She was born March 18, 1990 at Tod’s Childrens Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, sharing the same birthday as her Aunt Cathy.

Amanda has been a fighter since day one. She loved to smile and could brighten up any room. She loved going on all types of adventures with her family and friends, from being at the first checkpoint of the Iditarod Dog Sled Race to attending NASCAR races in Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and North Carolina, from sit-skiing in Colorado and Pennsylvania to boat rides with family in North Carolina and going on trips to zoos, the Battleship North Carolina, Patriots Point and the Outer Banks with family and friends. Her favorite places to visit were the Reptile Building at South of the Border in SC and Disney World in Florida. Amanda has lived in 11 different States during her short life, following her dad from place to place due to him being in the military.

Amanda was very smart. She could understand what you are saying even though she could not always respond back. She had special names for her family and friends, like “My Love” for her Mom Terri, “Dunna” for her Grandmother June (maternal), “Dear” for her Grandfather Chuck (maternal), “Elvis” for her Grandfather Lawrence (paternal), “Bubba” for her Uncle Will, and “Tammi Jo Jo” for her Aunt Tammi. She called her Best Friend Randy “Who” and Randy’s Mom Kathy “Who’s Mama”.

Amanda is survived by her Dad, Lawrence Habig; Mother, Terri Roquemore; Sister, Hunter Habig; Grandfather (paternal), Lawrence Habig; Uncles, John Habig, James Habig (Angie), David Habig (Mary), and Aunt Cathy Porter on her Dad’s side; and her Grandmother (maternal), June McCombs; Aunt, Tammi McCombs and Uncle, William McCombs (Devin), along with multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests honoring Amanda's beautiful life by making memorial contributions to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at t2t.org or to the Children's Miracle Network at childrensmiraclenetworkhospitals.org.
