Baker Thompkins

Baker La France "Chubby" Thompkins, 80 of Fayetteville died February 1, 2011.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Thompkins of the home; children, Milisa Owens of Rocky Mount, Sonny Thompkins, Jr. of Fayetteville, Patsy Keisler of Holden Beach, Elaine Roy, Irene Chrisman of Hope Mills; step-children, Teresa Trumble, Edward Jackson, Tommy Jackson all of Parkton and Allen Rogers of Fayetteville; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren; one brother, Tommy Thompkins of Hope Mills, NC.

Mr. Thompkins was a retired musician and race car driver of the #96 car and was famous for his Saturday night victories at race tracks and many will miss the beautiful sounds that come from his fingertips.
