Barbara Parker Thomson, 76 of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 at Duke University Hospital in Durham.
Born April 3, 1945 in Biloxi, MS, Barbara was the daughter of the late Earl W. and Dorothy Boudreaux Parker. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Joe Parker.
Barbara is survived by Bobby Thomson, her loving husband of 58 years. She is also survived by a son, Will Thomson and wife Kat; a son, Matt Thomson and wife Val; a daughter, Susan Harris and husband Danny; a daughter, Heather Mugg and husband Chris; grandchildren, Danielle (Shaun), Dylan (Jenn), Elizabeth (Carson), Kassy (Stephen), Ginny, Amy (Matt), Becky (Matt), Bobby Dale (Casey), Andrew (Caroline), Tyler, Tucker, Tatum, and Teagan; great grandchildren, Grimm, Spencer, Penelope, Nolan, and Rhys; a sister, Ava Smith, a longtime special friend, Betty Taylor; and a host of other family and friends to include her special friends at her Wednesday sewing and quilting class.
Barbara was an active member of Lake Lynn Baptist Church where she attended faithfully for many years during which she held many positions. She also volunteered in multiple missions activities including trips to Brazil and New York, as well as Operation Christmas Child. Living out one of her favorite bible verses, Philippians 4:13, Barbara’s talents were many. She was an extremely talented quilter and seamstress, crafter, cook, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Most importantly, she was a born again Child of God who lived a full and rich life.
Known as Barbara, Sweetie, Mom, Granny, and Granny B, she was especially proud of her family and strived to live by Joshua 24:15. She enjoyed spending time with each person old and young. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her, but we have great comfort in knowing we will one day be together again.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Lake Lynn Baptist Church, 3363 Gillespie Street, Fayetteville, NC 28306.
