Born December 25, 1936, to Carson Bunnells and Nannie Mae Ratley Bunnells, he was the longest living of 13 children. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Angela Marybelle Bunnells, and his grandson, Timothy Gary Britt, III.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Mary Lou Bunnells; five children, Nan Collier, LaVerne Powell and husband Kenneth Powell, Judy Bunnells Campbell, Bobby Bunnells, Jr. and wife Dawn Bunnells, and Michael Cheshire; seven grandchildren, Angela Furmage, Crystal Hunt, Brandi Payne, Amber Shoebrook, Tiffany Sealey, Brittany Bunnells, Melanie Bunnells, and 18 great grandchildren.
Reverend Bobby was the Pastor of Community Chapel Church for 50 years. He was a great man of faith, a preacher, and a teacher. Bobby loved and enjoyed playing musical instruments and was the true meaning of laughter with all his jokes. He loved to watch the hummingbirds outside on the porch and have family gatherings. One of the most memorable times was seeing him with the biggest smile while on a boat ride up the Cape Fear River with his loving wife, and his son and daughter.
From the family, “We Sincerely want to thank the staff at Community Hospice of Fayetteville, as well as all the visitors that came to sing, pray, and just give their love during Bobby’s final transition to God’s hands. Heaven has now gained a true Angel of God.” Bobby will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
