Bobby Dalton Hoover, 80, of Hope Mills, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012.
He was born October 14, 1931, in Randolph County to the late John David and Sallie Younts Hoover. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Mildred E. Hoover.
Bobby attended school in Randolph County.
He was married to the late Sylvia Ferguson, who died March 16, 2012. He served in the Army during the Korean War and served in Japan and Korea.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by daughter, Judy Hoover Alsup; brother, David John Hoover Jr., sisters-in-law, Merlene Hoover and Lola Hoover; brothers-in-law, Richard Hunt, Robert Kidley; and nephew, Tim Hoover.
Surviving are his son, Paul David Hoover and wife Joyce of Hope Mills; grandchildren, Jonathan Alsup of Fayetteville, David Alsup of Fayetteville, Jonathan Hoover of Hope Mills and Crystal Hoover of Lumberton; great-grandchildren, Kiona Oxendine, Xena Oxendine and Teanna Oxendine; brothers, Gene Hoover, Tommy Hoover and wife Lois, and Harvey Hoover and wife Diane, all of Thomasville, and Johnny Hoover and wife Rebecca of Reidsville; and sisters, Shirley Hunt of Lexington, Patsy Childers and husband Mickey of Thomasville and Peggy Kidley of Trinity.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Pinecrest Funeral and Cremation Services of Hope Mills. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, in Hope Mills United Methodist Church, with interment at Hope Mills Cemetery.
