SSG Byron Granger Baker, 76 of Fayetteville, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013.

Born in Utica, New York, he is the son of Byron and Nioma Baker. He retired after twenty years of service as a policeman from the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Kate of thirty eight years.

He is survived by a son, James Antczak and wife Linda of Fayetteville; daughter, Mary Lou Beschinski and husband Tony of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Dwaine Clark and wife Kelley of Fayetteville, Kenny Wagner and wife Cheryl of Kentucky, George Wagner and wife Michelle of Fayetteville, Buddy Cummings and wife Melody of Hope Mills, Kimberly Blecher and husband Frank of Fayetteville; 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
