Lt. Colonel Carrol D. Wilson, 88, retired U.S. Air Force, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014.
Mr. Wilson, originally from Champaign, Illinois, graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War.During his 26 years of service, he received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart, among other awards.
After retiring from the Air Force, Mr. Wilson worked for the Division of Veteran's Affairs for the State of North Carolina for 21 years. He was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by the state.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Jean, and by his daughters, Christine Boswell, Barbara A. Wilson, Natalie Wilson, and Cynthia Wilson; son-in-law, Charles Boswell; eight grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society or Guide Dogs for the Blind.
