Cecil Strother Dunn, 77, died Friday, July 15, 2011.
Cecil graduated from Red Springs High School in 1952. He married Mollie Jackson June 18, 1955 at Cotton United Methodist Church in Hope Mills, NC.
Among his many accomplishments: he served on the First Union National Bank board, president of Lumbee River Electric Membership Corporation board, deacon in the Lumber Bridge Presbyterian Church, Sunday school superintendent at Lumber Bridge Presbyterian Church, a mason in the Red Springs lodge for fifty plus years, member for more than twenty years in Northwood Temple church, on the board of Northwood Academy, owned and operated Fantasy Lake, Hope Mills for thirty-five years, sponsored several little league baseball teams.
He enjoyed golf, fishing and playing bridge.
He is survived by his wife, Mollie Jackson Dunn of the home; son Cecil Strother Dunn II of Lumber Bridge; sisters Annie Ruth Jackson of Parkton and Betty Lou Norton of Fayetteville.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Byron and Nellie Bennett Dunn, brothers, Frank B. Dunn, Tunnie Dunn, Gaston Dunn, Felton Dunn; sisters, Nellie Tolar, Lucile Malloy and Elsie McInnis.
