Charles Balestrieri, 93, of Hope Mills, died Saturday, May 4, 2019.
Born February 4, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA, Charles was the son of the late Guiseppe and Grazia Balestrieri. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Antoinette, Grace, Dorothy, and Pearl; and brother, Mario.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Debbie Jones and her husband Geoff; granddaughter, Ashley Guillen and her husband Ricky; grandson, Robby Jones; and great granddaughter, Layah Guillen.
Serving in the Army Air Forces with the 97th Airdrome Squadron during World War II, Charles achieved the rank of Corporal and received numerous medals. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, a former usher with St. Anthony Catholic Church in Pittsburgh, a member of the Hope Mills Senior Citizens Group, and an avid fan of Frank Sinatra.
Charles was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
