Charles R. Jeffery, 71, went home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2018.
Charles led an active life. After graduating from Franklin High School in 1965, he joined the Army and was sent to Fort Benning, GA for basic training. Soon after, Charles was sent to Vietnam serving as Sergeant in the 1st Infantry Division (the Big Red One) and Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment.
After getting out of the Army, Charles went to college where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Economics at Campbell University, and his Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Physics at the University of Cincinnati.
Completing college, Charles was an instructor of Computer and Economic classes at Central Carolina Community College from 1999 to 2005 and of Industrial classes at Fayetteville Technical Community College from 1998 to 2005.
While Charles taught, he also worked. He served as General Supervisor of Facilities and Environmental at Marelli Powertrain USA, LLC in Sanford, NC from 1994 to 2007 and EHS Manager at Purolator Products, INC in Fayetteville, NC from 1992-1994, where he also as Senior Facilities Engineer from 1985-1992. Charles also served as Plant Engineer at Weber USA in Sanford from 1981-1985, Corporate Facilities Manager at Clopay Corporation in Cincinnati from 1977-1981, and Maintenance Superintendent at Dalton Foundries, INC in Warsaw, IN.
Charles was Past Master of Creasy Proctor Lodge 679; York Rites, Most Excellent Master and Scottish Rites, 32nd Degree. He was also a Sudan Shriner, belonged to the DAV, American Legion, and Vietnam Veterans of America, and served as a Cub Master for the Boy Scouts.
After Charles retired, he started his own consulting company called Lakes Environmental Services, which was a great success until he became ill and could operate it no longer.
Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane Byers Jeffery, and his parents, Charles Edward and Claudine McCoppin Jeffery.
He is survived by his second wife, Lynda Jeffery; sons, Charles Michael Jeffery and his wife Tina of Greenville, SC and Eric Allan Cornell and his wife Belinda of Stockbridge, GA; and daughter, Marcia Murray of Wendell, NC.
Charles will also leave behind seven grandchildren, Tyler Jeffery and Heather Jeffery, both of Greenville, Sarah Murray and Madison Murray, both of Wendell, and Morgan, Mason, and Matthew Cornell, all of Stockbridge.
