Christopher Evans

Rev. Christopher “Chris” Brett Evans, 56 of Fayetteville, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Cumberland County, he is the son of the late Garland Evans, Sr. & Billie Gaskins Evans.  He is also preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Livingston.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years  Angie Rogers Evans; a daughter, Jessica Evans; a son, Joshua Evans and future daughter-in-law, Stephanie Sparks; brothers, Garland Evans, Jr., and wife Evelyn, James Evans and wife Tommie, Tim Evans and Anthony Evans; brother-in-law, Stacy Rogers and wife Marla; brother-in-law, David Rogers, and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Chris served as the Youth Minister at Faymont Baptist Church for 10 years.  In 2002 he became the Pastor of Faymont serving for more than 19 years.  He had  a passion for leading people to Christ.   He loved God, his family and his church family.   Chris also loved his cabin on Rockfish Creek.  He enjoyed hiking, canoeing and kayaking.    Though he is gone, he left footprints on so many people’s hearts.  He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Faymont Baptist Church, Cumberland Road, Fayetteville.  Burial will follow in Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM,  Friday night at Pinecrest Funeral and Cremation Services in Hope Mills.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faymont Baptist Church, 3663 Cumberland Road, Fayetteville, NC  28306 to go towards the mortgage fund.
