Clarence B. Gwynn III, 72, of Fayetteville, died Monday, July 1, 2019 in his residence with his family by his side.

Born October 21, 1946 in Cumberland County, Clarence was the son of the late Clarence Benny Gwynn, Jr. and Willa McArthur Gwynn. He was a graduate of Gray's Creek High School, and played on the school baseball and basketball teams. Clarence later went on to work with Kelly Springfield, where he stayed until retiring.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Gwynn; son, Charlie Gwynn and wife Cathy of Holden Beach; son, Billy Gwynn and wife Tonya of Titusville, FL; daughter, Debbie Royal and husband Leon of Fayetteville; daughter, Melissa Blackwell and husband Timmy of Parkton; grandchildren, Cameron Gwynn and wife Erica of Palatka, FL, Zachary Blackwell of Parkton, Ashley Royal of Raleigh, Madelyn Gwynn of Pembroke, Jessica Gwynn of Palatka, FL, and Jason Royal of Fayetteville; brother-in-law, David Swain of Sweetwater, TN; and a host of other family and friends.

Clarence was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 3350 Butler Nursery Road, Fayetteville, NC 28306.
