Curtis Leroy Lee, 69, of Hope Mills, died Sunday, June 19, 2016.

Born January 6, 1947 in Cumberland County, he was the son of the late Jessie and Nicey Lee.

Curtis graduated from Hope Mills High School in 1965, and went to work at Burlington Industries for several years before retiring. During his employment at Burlington, he received a U.S. patent for an invention that would become known as the "Lee Pole". Curtis was a member of Whispering Pines Church, and enjoyed fishing, watching football, basketball, and Winston Cup racing, and loved telling jokes whenever he could.

Along with his parents, Curtis was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lee.

He is survived by his daughters, Delores Trutenko and her husband Harvey, and Barbara Lee Redd and her husband Benjie; sisters, Connie Lee, Linda Lee, Glenda Hulbert, and Ann Hales; grandchildren, Sean and his wife Janel, Ryan, Jordan, Brooke, and Jessica; and great grandchildren, Aubrey, August, Kassidy, Dyllon, and Josaline.

The family is receiving friends at the home of Delores Trutenko at 6964 Point East Drive in Fayetteville. The family can be reached at (910) 423-1450.

Curtis was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
