David Carter

David Earl Carter age 88 of Parkton, NC went to be with his Heavenly Father on March 17, 2021.

Born in Cumberland County on August 22, 1932 he is the son of the late John W. and Lula Everette Carter. He was also preceded in death by a son in law, Sam Lawing.

David graduated from Parkton High School and served with the National Guard.

He worked for the NC Forestry Service for over 36 years before retiring.

David served as a deacon at Parkton Baptist Church for many years.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors, driving his tractor, farming and his greatest joy was his children , grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Rachel Wright Carter, children Wanda Taylor (Glenn), Nancy Lawing  and James Earl Carter; grandchildren, Melissa Lawing (Billy), Andrew Nystrom, Kimberly  Lusignan   (Josh), Glenn Taylor, II (Amanda); great grandchildren, Kendall, Lorelei, Hunter, Landon, Hartleigh, Aspen and Trip; sister, Dorothy C. Jackson of Parkton and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Monday March 22, 2021 at Pinecrest Funeral & Cremation Services followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Cape Fear Valley Hospice and his care giver Ms. Wendy.  We would like to thank everyone for all the prayers, cards, visits, phone calls, food, love and support shared with our family for the past few weeks.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to Parkton Baptist Church 28 South Fayetteville Street Parkton, NC 28371.

David will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
