David Herring, Sr.

In loving memory of David Franklin Herring, Sr., 62, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, born during the winter solstice on Friday, December 21, 1956, passed away in his home during the early hours of Monday, March 18, 2019.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Franklin Herring and Clara Bell Hobbs; and younger brother, Donnie Herring.

A native of Erwin, NC, David could be easily described as a hard worker, strong, confident, with a steadfast attitude. He worked as roofer and then finally owned and operated Herring Roofing in Fayetteville, NC. He was an avid motorcyclist who was a proud member of the War Riders Bike Club. David played bass for the band, Bobby and the Outlaws. They could be seen playing locally in Erwin, Dunn, Coats and surrounding areas in the 1970's. He enjoyed a good southern home cooked meal, collecting guns and knives, reading comics, watching war movies, and was a huge war history buff. David also enjoyed the great outdoors and spent quality time fishing, hunting, walking in the woods and being one with nature.

Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Wanda Herring of Fayetteville, NC; his surviving siblings, Lynn Price of Vass, NC, Owen and Sue Herring of Meadows, NC, Bobby and Donna Herring of Roseboro, NC, Mark and Michelle Herring of Clinton, NC, Jonathan "JD" and Shannon Herring of Clinton, NC and Lewis Herring of Clinton, NC; children, Felicia and SSG (R) Keith Brooks of Eastover, NC, SSG David and Jon Herring of Olympia, WA, Patrick and Kymmy Herring of Keystone Heights, FL and Melissa and Rex Allen of Florahome, Fl; grandchildren, Memorie Brooks of Eastover, NC, Melodie Brooks of Eastover NC, Ryan Hegwood of San Angelo, TX, Alexcia Arledege of Florahome, FL, Elizabeth Allen of Florahome, FL and Isabella Herring of Keystone Heights, FL and a host of other family and close friends.
