Donald Ray Fletcher

Donald Ray Fletcher, 88, of Sanford, NC, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024.

Born March 31, 1936, in Haysi, VA, Donald is the son of the late Earnest Fletcher and Ollie Hill Fletcher. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Eunice Phyllis Jean Fletcher; two brothers, Darrell “Pete” Fletcher and Jackie Slone; and stepfather, Monroe Slone.

Donald is survived by two sisters, Sandra Fletcher Purcell & her husband Michael and Peggy Slone Coleman & her husband Estil; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

Donald honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years before retiring. Following his military career, he worked for Civil Service in Computer Operations for another 20 years before retiring a second time. Once completely retired, Donald enjoyed travelling the countryside with his wife Eunice in their RV. Known as an avid football fan, he could be found enjoying a good football game in his spare time and rooting for his favorite team, the Denver Broncos.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church (where Donald was a member) at 316 W. Main Street, Sanford, NC 27332.
