With humble acceptance of God's will, we gather to lay to rest Donovan LaJuane Hunter, 20, of Fayetteville, NC.
Donovan was born on April 14, 2003, and departed this earthly life on August 2, 2023. Donovan was raised by mother Denise and stepfather Corey, along with father Marlon and stepmother Jamika. He attended Cumberland County Schools and graduated early from Jack Britt High School. Donovan entered the workforce while still in high school and ultimately became a Certified Forklift Operator with Food Lion Distribution Center up until his untimely passing.
Although known to have a quiet, introverted demeanor, family and friends alike know that his passions were writing, producing, and performing music locally and across various social media platforms. His love for words and music was noted from an early age. As a youngster, he was never without a notebook and pen to jot down thoughts and ideas. Donovan had an entrepreneurial spirit, and believed that "all great things have small beginnings." Though his light was dimmed too soon, we will cherish the time we had with him. He enjoyed assisting his mom with gardening, sometimes willingly; sometimes begrudgingly; as her veggie photographer, and most importantly to keep watch for lizards and snakes. Donovan and his dad would spend hours talking about life, dreams, and growth. He frequently attended Freedom Chapel AME Zion Church in Raeford, NC with his cherished Nana. Donovan was always willing to lend a hand when called upon by family and friends. He is a beloved son, grandson, brother, and loyal friend who is already greatly missed.
Previously departed loved ones include Donovan's Grandfathers Linwood Hunter, Alfred Williams, and James Ewings, Sr.
Donovan is survived by his parents, Marlon (Jamika) and Denise (Corey); siblings Kelsey, Nigel, Jamie, Tyler, Jasmen, Phillip, and Anderson; God-sisters, Victoria and Star; Grandparents, Emma, Mary W, Theodore, Gloria, Mary J, Mervin, Barbara, and Frances; Special friends, Maya, Amari, and Hassan, several Aunts and Uncles; and a host of cousins and friends.
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
