Dwight Kinlaw age 84, entered into his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior, early Monday morning, Aug. 13, 2012. He was born March 27, 1928, in Hope Mills, son of the late Marshall H. Kinlaw and Myrtle Hulon Kinlaw. He was preceded in death by brothers M. H. Kinlaw and Charles William Kinlaw, and a sister Lucille Kinlaw Harris. He is survived by brother Horace Delano Kinlaw of Asheville, NC, and six nieces and nephews.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 45 years, Jeane Foster Kinlaw, a dedicated and loving son, Dallas Dwight Kinlaw, II, who works in the radiology department of Straub Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he also resides, and two granddaughters, Emily Lin Kinlaw and Chloe Lin Kinlaw, whom he dearly loved and of whom he was extremely proud.
In his early years he worked at Fort Bragg. He entered the U S Navy where he served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1946. He worked for many years at Deaver’s Esso Station in Hope Mills. He worked with the Cumberland County ABC System as a manager from which he retired in 1996. Dwight devoted full time care for his mother-in-law, a dementia patient, providing care, love and understanding to her for a period of six years. He was an avid gardener, spending many hours growing flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees where he generously shared.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hope Mills and loved the Lord with all his heart. He enjoyed his home and loved his neighbors who were like family to him.
Visitation will be from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Wednesday, August 16, 2012 at Pinecrest Funeral & Cremation Services in Hope Mills. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 12:00 noon, Thursday, August 16, 2012 with internment at 2:00 PM in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery at Spring Lake, NC.
