Edith Joan Turlington, 79, of Fayetteville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 3, 2014.
She was born July 11, 1934 in Cumberland County, NC to the late George and Lela Turlington.
She was a second mother to many through the years and was well known for her cake baking and decorating skills. Edith retired from Black & Decker in 1996 with 29 years of service. She loved to fish at the ocean, eat hot dogs from Wiener Works and just get in the car and ride.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00pm Monday, May 5, 2014 at Pinecrest Funeral and Cremation Services in Hope Mills. The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home following the service. Burial will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville,
Edith leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters, Lynn Gillmore and husband Randy, Beverly Woods, and Tami Clifton and husband Roy.
Edith was blessed with grandchildren, Lisa Williams, Allen Lloyd, Elizabeth Woods and Olivia Clifton, and great grandchildren, Chase and Tripp Lloyd and Brock and Rylan Williams. She was also a special aunt to Linda Gibson and Mike Jones who loved their Aunt Dee Dee.
The family would like to thank Bethesda Healthcare Facility in Eastover for the care they provided for Edith during her struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Edith will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
