Edith Wade

Mrs. Edith Jane Wade, 90 of Hope Mills, died November 16, 2016 surround by family.

Born in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Jefferson Batten and Maude Fipps Batten. She is also preceded by a sister, Gracie Boeni and a brother, Thomas Batten.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Paul Lenden Wade, Jr. of the home; three daughters, Margaret Wade of Lake Waccamaw, Karen Waldo of Hope Mills and Paula Cress and husband Tim of Statesville; a son, Jeff Wade and wife Joyce of Hope Mills; six grandchildren, Wes Waldo and wife Kimberly of Lancaster, SC, Kate Waldo-Fillion and wife Sonia of Manchester, NH, Ryan Cress of China Grove, Elizabeth O'Keeffe and husband Chris of Angier, Tabitha Courtney and husband Adam of Hope Mills, and Sarah Wade of Hope Mills; seven great grandchildren, Logan Waldo, Abigail Waldo, Lindsey Waldo, Megan Waldo, Aubree Cress, Canon Cress, and Ellie O'Keeffe; and a faithful companion, Randi.

Edith was a member of Fayetteville Chapter #334, Order of the Eastern Star and was the secretary for over twenty-three years. She was awarded the Old North State Award by Governor Mike Easley. She was a longtime member of Cumberland Baptist Church and Southview Baptist Church.
