Edmund Christian Doggett, CWO-3, Ret., 92, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Carillon Assisted Living of Fayetteville.
A private family will be held at a later date. No public services will be scheduled.
He is survived by a son, Kevin M. Lynch and wife Kimberly of Fayetteville; two daughters, Colline Lynch Inman of Hope Mills and Jamie P. Lynch of Southern Pines; and six grandchildren, Carla L. Hamann, Tina E. McCall, Katherine M. Speights, Kristian M. Lynch, Gene Lynch, and Alison Lynch.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Mr. Doggett was the son of the late Col. David and Marie Doggett. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy A. Doggett and brother, David Seth Doggett, Jr.
Mr. Doggett faithfully served in the U.S. Army before retiring after 24 years. Upon retiring, he became an officer on the Capitol Police Force in Washington, D.C., serving in the U.S. Senate for 13 years. Mr. Doggett was a lifetime long distance runner, having participated in 10 consecutive Marine Corps marathons during the 1970s and 1980s.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Mr. Doggett be made to Thundering Paws, 1709 West McRainey Road, Parkton, NC 28371.
