Elmer Arnette

Fayetteville, North Carolina

Elmer (Goose) Arnette, Jr., 75, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He is survived by his loving wife Iva Jean Arnette and two sons, Jimmy and Lonnie Kitchen; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Ruby Jackson and Elmer Arnette; two sisters, Elizabeth Regenhardt and Peggy Jean Horne.


Elmer was a three letter sports star at Massey Hill High School in the fifties. He was a 2010 inductee into The Fayetteville Sports Hall of Fame. He retired as Director of Cumberland County Parks Department. The sports complex on highway 87 in Fayetteville was named in his honor.

Elmer loved to fish, golf, and play sports and lived his life to the fullest. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation, Friends of the Cancer Center.
