Dr. Emma Grace Haynes, 74 of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
Born January 26, 1949, in Pinehurst, NC, Emma was the daughter of Joseph A. Cassady and Ethel EmmaJane Johnson Cassady. Emma was one of ten children and, along with her family, resided in Southern Pines, NC where she attended West Southern Pines High School. After graduating, she began working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at a young age. At 19 years of age, Emma married Richard Paul Haynes Sr. and together had a total of four children: Richard Paul Haynes Jr., Robin Daniel Haynes, Ron Devale Haynes, and Charity Haynes. She worked for a time selling insurance for Mutual of Omaha and MetLife before earning her Ph.D. in Business Administration and eventually became a college professor at Richmond Community College.
Emma was preceded in death by her father, Joseph A. Cassady; brothers, Junius Nathaniel Cassady and Clinton Edward Cassady; and daughter, Charity Haynes.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her three sons, Richard Paul Haynes, Jr. of Fayetteville, NC, Robin Daniel Haynes of Valencia, CA, and Ron Devale Haynes of Manhattan, NY; four grandchildren, Shakee Haynes, Gemma Haynes, Quami Haynes, and Gianni Emma Haynes, one great granddaughter; her mother, Mrs. Ethel Cassady; seven siblings, Doris Johnson of Charlotte, NC, Delores Jean Murphy-Cassidy of Forest Hills, NY, Mary Gibson of Kenly, NC, Patricia Hudson of North Plainfield, NJ, Wanda Faye Padgett of Greensboro, NC, Joseph C. Cassady of Aberdeen, NC, and Priscilla Gail CubillanCassady of Orlando, FL; and a host of other family members and friends.
