On Monday October 15, 2012 Essie Johnson Carson Danford, 89, of Fayetteville went home to be with her Lord, surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born May 24, 1923 to the late John W. and Beckie Johnson. From the age of 21 she was interested in politics and government and was the Registrar for Cross Creek district 1 for 30 years. She was a natural born care giver. She owned Carson's Family Care Home in Hope Mills and operated Person Street Rest Home for many years. She was an officer and active in Woodmen of the World and was recognized several times for her work with their Rest Home projects. She was a wonderful mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her daughter Rebecca C. Arrington, of Fayetteville, her grandson Robert Arrington and wife Katie of Summerville, SC, her granddaughter, April Blair and husband Jeremy of Raleigh.
Her great grandchildren, Nina Alexander and husband Gideon of Everetts, NC, Jordan and Wyatt Blair of Raleigh, NC and Christian and Haliegh Homrich of Summerville, SC, were adored by her and a great source of joy.
She is also survived by her cousin, Karon Hall to whom she was most grateful for all the companionship, nursing care, comfort and love she has provided for over 20 years.
Our special thanks go to Dr. Julia Norem for her dedication and compassion in her treatment over the years and to Healthkeeperz Hospice for making it possible for Momma to be at home the last two months.
