Today we say goodbye to our hero as he joins the Lord's army of angels. Surrounded by his loving family on August 11, 2015, Everett Graham Gregory, Sr. won his battle with Dementia/Alzheimer's as he was called home by his heavenly father, a journey he anticipated with great joy. Everett leaves behind an honorable legacy as a dad, papa, great papa, brother, uncle, friend and brother in Christ. He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 55 years, Barbara "Bobbi" Gregory, who took care of him and was by his side until the end, his best friend and constant companion, Al Walker and his caregiver and daughter, Pat Walker, only three of many who must find a way to fill this enormous void.
Everett blessed this world on July 13, 1937 and built an awesome life as a hardworking, devoted family man, proudly giving 22 years of service to his country including a tour in Vietnam, he retired as a Master Sergeant E8 from the Army and continued on working to retire from PWC after 24 years.
Always smiling, friendly, happy, and on the go, Everett loved baseball and basketball and he also loved fishing and traveling with his best friend Al. He adored his pastor, Brother Clyde Lowery as well as his entire church family.
In addition to his devoted wife Barbara Gregory of the home, he is also survived by one daughter, Patricia Walker and husband Al. Everett leaves behind two sons to carry on the Gregory name, Everett "Butch" Gregory, Jr. and wife Dawn, Kyle Gregory and wife Ana, all of Fayetteville. Everett was a loving papa to six grandchildren; Faith, Dusty, Ryan, Kayla, Jessica and Stevie; and six great-grandchildren; Jade, Jacey, Aiden, Takhoma, Mason, and Easton, all of whom have treasured memories of him to last a lifetime. Everett is also survived by one sister, Betsy Ward and husband Billy of Draper, VA. In heaven Everett will meet his earthly mother and father, sister Stella, and brother Rev. Jerry Gregory.
The Gregory family would like to thank all those who have supported us during this time with a special thank you to Dr. Jorge Franco for the excellent care he gave, as well as the entire staff of Cape Fear Valley 3rd Floor South for their amazing compassion, love, and support. They were all truly a blessing.
