Floyd Sweat

Floyd Foster Sweat, 91 of Hope Mills, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022.

Born in Marion, SC, Floyd is the son of the late Floyd and Menary Yarborough Sweat. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mae Lillian Sweat; brothers, Edward Sweat and Carlis Sweat; and sister Beatrice Sweat.

Floyd is survived by his son, Bill Sweat and wife Donna Morris of Dundee, OR; daughter, Betsy Sweat of Hong Kong; son, Michael Sweat and wife Rita of Newburyport, MA; granddaughter, Amanda Armillay and husband Jim of Manchester, NH; grandson, Brendan Chen of New York, NY; great grandson, Beckett Armillay; and several nieces and nephews.

Floyd honorably served over 16 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. During his military career, he received numerous awards and commendations including the Korean Service Medal and Presidential Unit Citation. Floyd would later work for several years as a clerk with the United Stated Postal Service following his service in the military.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
