Frankie Freeman

Mr. Frankie Ray Freeman passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Ray was born in Fayetteville, NC on August 17, 1943.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Charles Richard and Genevieve Maxwell Freeman, and his brothers; Charles and Larry Freeman.

Ray attended Fayetteville High School and enjoyed playing softball and baseball in the Industrial Leagues. Later in life he became an avid golfer. Ray dearly loved watching the Redskins play football, whether they won or lost. One of the highlights of his love for sports was attending the 1988 XXII Super Bowl game in San Diego, California which the Redskins won.

Ray began his career as a salesman for Hyman Supply Company, often being recognized for his outstanding salesmanship with bonuses, plaques and trips to exotic destinations. He later established his own business, Tar Heel Industrial Supply Inc. which operated for over 20 years. During this time, he served six years in the North Carolina National Guard. Ray was a former Commander of the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry.

Mr. Freeman is survived by his wife of 47 years; Cama Rouse Freeman, and his brother; Kenneth (Jerri) Freeman.
