Guy Place

U.S. Army MSG (RET) Guy Robert Place, 81, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021.
Born in Walton, NY, Guy is the son of the late Guy Basil and Maude Grubbs Place.
Before retiring from the Army in 1983, Guy served for 26 years including time in the Special Forces and the Vietnam War. During his dedicated years of service, Guy received numerous medals and accommodations including the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, the Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Victoria Place; daughter, Sharon O’Hern and husband Thomas; granddaughter; Alyssa Morris and husband Tony; grandson, Thomas O’Hern, Jr.; great grandson, Isaac Morris; and cousin, Virginia LaRose.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 1201 Hope Mills Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
Guy will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
