Mike is survived by his daughter, Rev. Christy E. Mike was known as a passionate man who had a zest for life in all things. He was deeply loved, especially by his late wife “Libby”, his daughter Christy, and his daughter-in-law Christina. Mike loved his nieces and nephews on all sides of the family, and held a deep concern for his community, his friends, and anyone who was in need. He wanted to care for people and make sure they knew they were loved.

Mike retired as the Operations Director of Cumberland County Schools after several years of dedicated service, and also served as a Past President of the North Carolina Electricians Association. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Grays Creek, helping out there as much as he could when he was able.

Mike was an avid NC State Fan who often scheduled activities around their games so he could attend as many as possible. In later years, He would text the game scores to his daughter in Kansas, especially when State was playing Duke.

Mike loved the outdoors. He had a passion for fishing and also enjoyed hunting, teaching his daughter Christy how to skeet shoot, gardening for his wife, pickle making, and cooking for the community.

His love for traveling lead to many day trips to the beach or the mountains. He loved visiting space museums, picking apples in the mountains, and going to Powers Strawberry and Farm Market.

Most of all, he loved taking care of his family and did so up until the day of his death. His last words were that he loved God and his daughter. Mike was a beloved child of God who is now in the Kingdom of God with his Savior and has been reunited with his beloved wife again.

He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.
