Hubert Tompkins

Hubert Dale Tompkins, 80, of Tabor City, NC died Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at his home with his loving wife Brenda by his side.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Donnie and Bertie Tompkins of Tabor City, NC and his son Jeffrey Dale of Fayetteville, NC.

Dale was a graduate of Tabor City HS in 1954. He served in the military and graduated from UNC Pembroke and afterward received his Master's Degree in Administration from East Carolina University.

Dale was an accomplished coach, teacher, and principal. As a coach he won two state championships. One in basketball and one in baseball. He was loved and respected by his students and fellow teachers.

Dale is survived by his wife, Brenda Jenkins Tompkins; daughter, Katherine Page Tompkins Wallace (Patrick); grandson, Luke Patrick of Angier, NC; brother, Jim Tompkins (Joyce) of Tabor City, NC; sister, Faye Tompkins Powell (Bobby) of Loris SC; sister-in-law, Joyce Jenkins Horne of Laurinburg, NC; and several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dale will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
