Ida Thames

Ida Jane Thames, a long-time resident of Hope Mills, died Friday the 16th of December at home.



She was born on September 4, 1932 to the late James and Bernice Barnes. Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, two brothers, Leamon Barnes and Gene Barnes. Ida retired from Burlington Industries with over 40 years of service. She volunteered with Cape Fear Valley Auxiliary for a number of years, and was a member of Hope Mills United Methodist Church for many years.



She is survived by her son, Billy Rouse of Orrum; four grandchildren David Rouse and wife Dee Dee of Orrum, Angie Rouse of Lumberton, Marsha Lynn Davis and husband Kenny of Lumberton, and Karen Rouse of Lumberton; and three great-grandchildren, William Marshall Rouse, Casey Davis, and Colin Davis.



The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2011 at Hope Mills United Methodist Church on Legion Road in Hope Mills. A service to celebrate her life will begin at 3 p.m. at the church, with Dr. Dennis Sheppard officiating. Interment will follow in Gilmont Cemetery.
