Retired Army CSM James Bobby Fuller, 71, of Hope Mills, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 in his home surrounded by family.
JB was born October 25, 1943 in Sylacauga, AL to the late Raymond Styles Fuller and Alma Elaine Fuller.
He started his military career in 1962 with the National Guard while still in high school. In 1963, he was recruited Special Forces at Ft. Devens, MA after enlisting RA and becoming a morse intercept and morse direct finder. He spent most of his Special Forces career with 10th group. His SF assignments also include 3rd, 5th in Vietnam, 7th, and 8th Special Action Force. During his career, he enjoyed being a JumpMaster, Ski instructor and multi linguist. He retired as CSM of 519th MI at Ft Bragg in 1986.
After retirement JB spent 18 years with the Hope Mills U.S. Postal Service. He retired from the post office in 2008.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 48 years, Loretta Fuller; daughters, Sheryl Steele and Holly Strother; sons, James Fuller, Jr. and Glenn Fuller and his wife Melanie; brothers, Billy Fuller, Charles Fuller, and Daniel Fuller; sisters, Joan Lehto and Sandra Knauf; grandsons, Dustin Fuller, Rodney Steele, Evan Strother, Tristan Strother, Nolan Fuller, and Ian Riley; granddaughters, Diana Brown, Dana Kerfonta, Brooke Fuller, and Sky Riley; great grandson, Joey Brown and three great grandchildren on the way.
JB was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
