James Edward Hager, 73, of Fayetteville, NC, died Saturday, June 14, 2014.
He was born August 24, 1940 in Logan, WV to the late Everette Day and Hallie Justice Hager.
James was a native of David, KY in Floyd County, and would eventually make his home in Fayetteville, NC. He was a 1959 graduate of Prestonburg High School in Prestonburg, KY and attended Eastern Kentucky State College in Richmond, KY and Mayo Vocational School in Paintsville, KY, where he studied drafting. He later retired from Purolator after 30 years of service.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at Pinecrest Funeral and Cremation Services in Hope Mills.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Middle Creek Baptist Church in Blue River, KY.
Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jasmine Hope Goodman; brothers, Lowell and Ronnie Hager; and sisters, Joyce Ann and Lova Lee Hager, and Clara Jean Baldridge.
He is survived by his daughter, Shyla Ann Hager Tyler and husband Nelson, Jr. of Fayetteville, NC; two grandchildren, Jamie Earl Goodman II and Lyric Jeneah Tyler of the home; two great granddaughters; Anna Belle Adkins and Alexis Raven Goodman; sisters, Rose Wells of Mt. Orab, OH, Catherine Prater of Bradenton, FL, and Shirlee Branham of Prestonburg, KY; brother, Charles Hager of David, KY; and a host of nieces and nephews.
James was a lover of life and basketball. Even though he migrated to North Carolina, he loved his Kentucky Wildcats (GO BIG BLUE!!). We know James is somewhere shooting hoops with his brothers.
