Mr. James Carson Justice, age 73, of Hope Mills, NC, died peacefully surrounded by loving family on July 13, 2016.
Jim was born in Saxton, KY. He was in the US Army from 1963 -1974. As a Staff Sergeant in the Vietnam War from 1966-68 with the 1st Cavalry, he bravely led troops and carried those memories in his heart.
He was awarded, among others, the Purple Heart, Air, Army Commendation, Army of Occupation, National Defense Service, and Vietnam Service medals, the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, and Combat Infantry Badge.
He retired from the Town of Hope Mills. A life-long learner, Jim was interested in the world. In retirement he was content with the easy rhythms of home life with his wife of 47 years, Carola. Jim showed his love in small daily ways. He was talented in building and fixing anything. He was the proud and patient Opa to his grandsons Jonah Smith, NC, and Conrad Carson Lane, DE.
He is survived by his wife, Carola Rosa Justice (Moeller); mother, Clara Ellen Sigman; son, David James Justice and girlfriend, Tracy Schock; and brother Hobert Justice, Hope Mills, NC; daughter, Ellen Maria Justice
and husband, Robert Louis Lane, DE; sister, Shelby Beccera and family, IL; sister, Elizabeth Nastali and family, MI; brother, Jerry Justice, AK; and loving family in Germany.
Jim had a big heart and those he loved; he loved deeply and unconditionally. That gift they carry forward in their hearts.
