James Allen Parker, Jr., 72, of Fayetteville, passed away, June 1, 2015 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Born in Cumberland County, he is the son of James Allen Parker, Sr. and Naomi Jones Parker. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Trudy Coburn.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Parker, a daughter, Karen Parker and Fiancé Chad Nichols of Fayetteville; sisters, Joan Armstrong, of Fayetteville, and Diana Wilbert of Lakehurst, NJ; a brother, Wayne Parker of Vass, NC, and 2 grandchildren, Chelsey and Ashlyn Parsons.
Mr. Parker graduated from Massey Hill High School in 1961. He served in the US Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran receiving an honorable discharge. He worked at Black and Decker for thirty years as a material specialist and a truck driver. He was a member of the Possum Trot Radio Net. His handle was KC4JAN and his call number was PT1459. Mr. Parker was a Charter member of the Atonement Baptist Church and was one of the original deacons. He was a loving husband, daddy, papa and brother. He was Uncle Jimmy to many nieces and nephews. He was known as a gentle and kind loving man. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
