James “Maylan” Peters, 83 of Fayetteville, passed away Sunday April 9, 2023 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Born in Bladen County, he is the son of late Gibson Peters and Saraetta Burney Peters. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Strickland Peters. He is also preceded in death by four brothers, Joe, Rolan, Delma and Rufus Peters.
He is survived by a son, Craig Peters and wife Alina; a daughter, Donna Vines and husband Bill; a brother, Claude Peters and wife Ruth Ann; 4 grandchildren, Brandon Peters and wife Ashley, Danielle Nickens and husband Ralph, Will Vines and wife Cameron, and Victoria Joyner and husband Justin; 5 great grandchildren, Henry, Lucia, Aliza, Jace and Cole, and a host of family and close friends.
Mr. Peters was the owner of J. M. Peters Auto Sales and Owen Drive Service Center, for more than forty-five years. He was a life-long member of Breezewood Church. He served on the church board and attended services regularly until his passing.
