Janet was born in 1955 to Gino Etri and Michelle Harris in Astoria, NY. In 1962 Janet moved with her mother and siblings Bob & Jean to Norwood, NC. From 1964 to 1969 the siblings lived at Barium Springs Home for Children in Barium Springs, NC. She was a member of the high school class of 1973 South Stanly High School, Stanly County, NC. She earned a Secretarial Science degree from Stanly Community College, an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration from FTCC, and a B.S. in Business Administration from FSU. She was on track to earn her LEED building certification when her disease overcame her.
Throughout her career she worked as an office manager for several service companies in the Fayetteville area. She and her husband John both worked for Building Environmental Systems Testing, Inc. based in Wilson. NC.
As an adult Janet found peace and salvation by responding to an ad in the back of a Reader's Digest magazine and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She diligently studied church doctrine and the Bible and had a great desire to help others as she was healed by God's Grace. She served as Primary President (children's Sunday School leader) for a number of years, taught Sunday School, served as a visiting teacher to adults and enjoyed hosting missionaries for dinner. Several years before her death Janet was able to reconnect with the Etri side of the family in NY and was thrilled to find two of her father's sisters still alive and many of her cousins she had such fond memories of.
The Church and her family were the center of her life. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: www.bariumsprings.org/donate.cfm
