Janice Southerland

Janice Eleanor Singletary Southerland, loving wife and mother, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014.

Janice was born July 19, 1933 in Lumberton, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William George Southerland, Sr., her father, Clayton Singletary, her mother Dorothy Johnson Singletary and her brother, Ronald "Gene" Eugene Singletary.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Southerland Toft, and husband William "Bill" of Greensboro, NC; sons, William George Southerland, Jr. of Fayetteville, and Joseph Clayton Southerland, and wife Audrey Twomey of Hope Mills; grandchildren, Austin Charles Toft and wife Kristy of Lynchburg, VA, Aaron Christopher Toft of Greensboro, NC, Christina Marie Ball and husband Jeffery of Fayetteville, and Christopher Ramsey Southerland of Stephenville, TX; great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Mason, Silas, Johnny and Elliot; sisters, Barbara Cullen and Lucy Steinberg; brother, Bobby Singletary.

Janice was retired from the Fayetteville Observer.

The family would like to give special thanks to United Hospice of Smithfield, NC, who lovingly helped her family care for her.
