Mr. Jesse E Dix, 75, of Wade, NC went home to be with The Lord on January 31, 2014, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born February 25, 1938, in Hope Mills to the late James D. Dix and Viola Caulder Dix.
After graduating from Hope Mills High School in 1956, he worked as a truck driver for New Dixie, Gulf Oil, BP, Texfi, and retired from Food Lion in 2003. He was preceded in death by his brother, James R Dix.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Marsh Dix of Wade; a son, John E. Dix and wife Candice W. Dix of Fuquay-Varina; step daughter, Valerie Leadbetter Shuey and husband, Donald W. Shuey of Tampa, FL; step son, Raymond D Leadbetter and wife, Dera (Well) of O'Fallon, IL; brothers, Franklin M. and wife Carolyn B. of Sanford, and J. Wayne, and Donnie L. both of Fuquay-Varina; a sister, Joyce Dix Copeland and husband Tim of Fayetteville; two granddaughters, Samantha and Natalie and six grandsons, Luke, Logan, Michael, David, Nathan and Ryan. They gave him such joy. He also loved his nieces and nephew and spent many happy hours with them.
Jesse had served in many church positions as a youth worker, baseball coach, bus driver, and deacon.
He had a lifelong love of trains, collected model trains and enjoyed watching train videos.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Cape Fear Valley Hospital and the pastor and members of Lebanon Baptist Church for their exceptional and loving care.
A visitation will be held at Pinecrest Funeral Home in Hope Mills, from 5-7 pm on Sunday, February 2, 2014. Funeral services will be at Lebanon Baptist Church in Eastover, at 11 am on Monday, February 3, 2014. He will be laid to rest at Red Branch Baptist Church cemetery in Carthage at 2 pm.
