Joel Barfield

Joel "Joe" Clay Barfield, 59 of St. Pauls, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023.

Born October 22, 1963 in Cumberland County, Joe is the son of the late James Clinton Barfield, Jr. and Myrtle Phipps Barfield. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Glenn Barfield.

He is survived by his wife, Molly Barfield; son, Trey Cain; daughter, Lee Ann Hocutt and husband Danny; son, John Cain; son, Sammy Cain; grandchildren, Brandon Edwards and fiancee Jory, Sammy Cain, Jr., and Gracie Cain; brother, Dan Barfield and partner Jeannie; brother, Anthony Barfield; sister-in-law, Camellia Barfield; nephews, James Barfield III and Chris Barfield; niece, Tiffany Faulk; and a host of other family members and friends.

Joe was a graduate of Douglas Byrd High School and later retired from Goodyear in Fayetteville. He was a man of many talents who enjoyed playing and listening to music, riding horses, and tinkering with all kinds of machines, including antique steam engines and remote control airplanes. Joe was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
