John Bowyer

John William Bowyer III, 67, of Fayetteville, NC, died Monday, May 26, 2014 in Raeford, NC.

Mr. Bowyer was born April 19, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA to the late John William Bowyer, Jr. and Alice M. Wingate Bowyer.

He moved to Chester County, PA at the age of 14 and graduated from West Chester High School in 1965, before being drafted in 1966. He served his country during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968 before being honorably discharged.

Upon discharge, Mr. Bowyer was employed by Shop Rite Supermarkets in West Goshen from 1968 to 2003. He also served as a volunteer fireman for the Good Will and Goshen Fire Departments, and was with the West Chester Fire Police for many years.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at Pinecrest Funeral and Cremation Services in Hope Mills, NC.

A graveside service officiated by Chaplain Archie Barringer will be held at 12 noon Friday, May 30, 2014 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, NC.

Mr. Bowyer leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Karen M. Bowyer; two sons, Richard W. Thomson and wife of Charlotte, NC and Harry F. Thomson of West Chester, PA; and one grandson.

He is also survived by one brother, Stephen C. Bowyer and wife of Coatesville, PA; two sisters, Jill Maryelizabeth Jablonski and husband of New Providence, PA and Joy Wittmeyer and husband of Cape May Court House, NJ; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Mr. Bowyer will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
