John Davis

Mr. John Thomas Davis, Jr. 84 of Fayetteville went to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 22, 2012 at NC State Veterans Nursing Home after a long illness of Alzheimer's with family and friends by his side.



Mr. Davis attended the Church of God of Prophecy since the age of 18 and served as a deacon for forty-five years.  He attended Breezewood Church for the past thirty-six years.  He loved the Lord with all his heart and enjoyed helping others.  Before retiring he worked at Southland Rentals and Supplies and Air Compressor Repair before his illness.   Christmas was his favorite holiday.  He enjoyed helping his wife cook for the holidays and spending time with his family.



He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathryn Horton Davis of the home; daughters, Geraldine Carswell of Louisburg, NC, and Debbie Aslett and husband Bob of Dayton, Nev.; sons, Milton Davis and wife Carol of Raeford, and Jimmy Horton and wife Sherri of Fayetteville; sisters, Carolyn Franklin and Gladys McGee both of Durham, 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.



A funeral service will be held at 3 p. m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Breezewood Church, Legion Rd, Hope Mills.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p. m., Friday, December 28th,   at Pinecrest Funeral & Cremation Services in Hope Mills.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, December 30th in Randsall Baptist Church Cemetery at Louisburg, NC.



A special thanks to friends and the staff at the NC State Veteran's Nursing Home for the love and care that was given to Mr. Davis.  He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
