Kathryn Bender

Kathryn Newman Bender, 62 of Hope Mills, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021 in her home with family by her side.

Born September 8, 1958 at Wheelus Air Base in Tripoli, Libya, Kathy is the daughter of the late Gerald Morgan and Loretta Delise Newman.

She is survived by her husband John Joseph Bender; son, Michael Bender and wife Archana; son, Nelson Bender and wife Shalottie; daughter, Patricia Sanders and husband Charles; grandchildren, Aria Bender, Lidia Acosta, and Dana Wooten; brother, Joseph Newman and wife Laura; brother, Jerry Newman and wife Georgia; brother, Danny Newman and wife Jennifer; and a host of other family and friends.

During her life, Kathy wrote and published two books. Her love for writing was only matched by her love for reading and taking care of her many Akitas. Kathy was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warm personality impacted many lives. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
