Lester Mclaney, Jr.

Lester Claude "Mac" McLaney, Jr., 72 of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022.

Born May 31, 1949 in Cumberland County, Mac is the son of Willie Mae Lunsford McLaney and the late Lester Claude McLaney, Sr.

In addition to his mother, Mac is survived by his wife, Sylvia McLaney; daughter, Erin Franco and husband Gilbert; daughter, Somer McLaney; son, Stuart McLaney; son, James Scott and wife Loree; brother, Rick McLaney; and fifteen grandchildren.

Mac proudly served numerous years in the U.S. Army before retiring in 1995. During his military career, he was the recipient of numerous ribbons and medals including the Bronze Star. Mac would later retire with the City of Fayetteville where he found employment following his time in the service. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved simply spending time with his family and friends.

Mac was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
