Linda Gail Hutchinson, 67, of Hope Mills, NC passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 of a broken heart on Valentine’s day, approximately two years after the unexpected passing of her baby boy.
Born March 2nd, 1954 in England, Linda is the daughter of the late Harold and Myrtle Wilson Hutchinson. She is also preceded in death by her youngest son, Brian Elkins and older sister, Barbara Ann Hutchinson.
Linda and her family moved back to the States, ending up in Fayetteville, NC, where she graduated from Pine Forest High School in 1972. Linda would eventually marry and move to Raleigh, NC and began her life as a Mom and Homemaker. Shortly after she would become an employee at the first Walmart location in Garner, working in the gardening department. After working there for several years, Linda returned to school and attained her AAS from Vance-Granville Community College in May 2012 at the age of 58. Upon receiving her degree, she worked in the Henderson area assisting in Home Health Care until moving to Hope Mills.
She was a dedicated member of Harvest Baptist Church in Hope Mills. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening with flowers, making jewelry, traveling to the beach, and always looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren.
Linda, also affectionately known as “Meemaw”, leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Jonathan Elkins and wife Amy of Clayton; Rev. Mark “Derek” Elkins and wife Jessica of Casper, WY; sister, Rosie Staples and husband Butch of Fayetteville; brother, Barry Hutchinson of Roseburg, OR; and eight grandchildren, Alexandria Elkins, Johnny Elkins and wife Austin; Marissa Elkins, Hannah Gardner and husband Josh; Jonah Elkins, Savannah Elkins, Addison Elkins, and Emma Claire Elkins.
She was an advocate for the victims of domestic violence and would always advise anyone who was a victim to find help through either a local support group or by contacting the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-SAFE (7233).
Linda will always be remembered for her adoration of her grandchildren, her love for her 3 sons, and devotion to her feline companion Lou Lou. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family requests any floral tributes be delivered directly to Harvest Baptist Church for the celebration of life to be held there Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 3:30 p.m.
