Lore Bachofer Edney passed peacefully from this life the morning of January 22, 2010 after a long battle with brain cancer. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life. Lore grew up in war-torn Germany, but her knowledge with struggle gave her the commitment to zealously provide a much better life for her family. She was married in 1969 to her husband, Phillip. She was an Army wife for 19 of those years until her husband's retirement in 1988. Lore strove to be a great wife, mother and grandmother and to instill in her children pride, love, and a passion for life. Lore lived the remainder of her life as courageous as she began it 77 years ago. For those whose lives were enriched by knowing her, her passion and wisdom will be greatly missed.
Lore is survived by her husband Phillip Harrison Edney, three children: Rainer Michael Bachofer and wife, Victoria, Diana Edney Waldrup, and husband, Chad, Mona Edney Burke, and fiance, Mark; three grandchildren: Sierra Marie Burke, Victoria Elizabeth Burke, and Donovan Michael Burke; Two Step-grandchildren: Toby Barefoot Foster, and husband, Jeffery, and Heather Barefoot Parker, and husband, Philip; and a Step-Great-granddaughter Kara Ashley Parker. Lore is also survived by two brothers Sigfried Bachofer and Rolf Bachofer, and a sister Martha Sapalski, all of Germany.
Services are entrusted to Pinecrest Funeral Home of Hope Mills with Pastor Roy Arrington officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 7:00 pm with memorial service immediately following at 7:30 pm.
