Lorenzo Gonzalez

Retired US Army 1SG Lorenzo Abner Gonzalez, 79, of Hope Mills, died Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

He was born on November 14, 1934 in San Benito, Texas to the late Lorenzo and Delia Lopez Gonzalez. He served for over 28 years, including Vietnam, in the US Army before retiring in 1983.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Monday, December 9, 2013 at Pinecrest Funeral and Cremation Services in Hope Mills.

Funeral services and burial with military honors will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mr. Gonzalez leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 54 years, Sonya Gonzalez; son, James Gonzalez; daughter, Belinda Zelco; son, David Gonzalez; son; Wolfgang Gonzalez; brother, Oved Gonzalez; sister, Febe Garcia; sister, Belinda McKenzie; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Mr. Gonzalez was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
