Marie Antionette McMillan Bullard, 73, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022. While we grieve her loss, we also celebrate her life and her going home. She will be greatly missed but we are all thankful that her pain and suffering are over and she is in the presence of the Lord.
Born on September 10, 1948 in Cumberland County, NC, Marie is the daughter of the late Harry and Jewel Cain McMillan. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Rebecca McMillan Cannon and Gail McMillan Bryan. We know that she is rejoicing in Heaven with those that went before her.
Marie is survived by her husband, Herman Ray Bullard Sr.; son, Herman Ray Bullard Jr. & wife Paula; her granddaughter, Tucker Bullard; and grandson, Tripp Bullard.
Marie loved spending time with her grandchildren and cheering them on at their soccer games. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach watching them enjoying the waves, fishing, and teaching them to stop and admire the splendor of God’s creation.
More than anything, she delighted in being surrounded by the people she loved. Her home was always a place where food, fellowship and love created many cherished memories. Our family was blessed by all the meals that she hosted. Dessert was always her favorite course to prepare and serve. The many cakes, pies, cookies and especially her peanut butter balls all made with loving hands will be dearly remembered as her love language.
Her motto was “Think Heaven”. When days on this earth were trying and lonely, it brought her great joy to imagine what Heaven would be like and to worship with all those she longed to see again. It is a blessing to know she no longer will have to imagine!
Marie’s greatest gift was unconditional love. We cannot think of a sweeter and more appropriate day for the Lord to call her home than on Valentine’s Day. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and faithful friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
