Born in South Africa he is the son of Jason Hathaway and Ilana Sheppard.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his step-father Keith Sheppard: sister, Arianna Hathaway; brother; Jason Hathaway; step sister, Kristen Sheppard maternal grandparents, Jacobus and Jacoba Kok; paternal grandparents, William and Sonya Hathaway; step-grandparents, Wayne and Vera Sheppard; uncle, Ivan Hathaway and an extended family.
